Prostate cancer is one of the leading types of cancer in men in the United States, with an estimated 1 in 8 men diagnosed with the disease sometime in their lifetime. Despite the statistics, receiving a diagnosis can come as a surprise for many men, and the journey ahead may seem overwhelming.
The right organizations and resources can help educate and empower you as you navigate treatment, remission, and more. Through the groups' connections, you can find others who can help you overcome obstacles and feel less alone along the way.
We gathered our favourite resources to help you at every stage, whether you've just been diagnosed with prostate cancer or are currently in remission.
Zero Prostate Cancer
As its name suggests, the goal of Zero Prostate Cancer is to end prostate cancer for everyone. Until then, the organization is focused on providing resources, programs, and services to those impacted by the disease.
Educational materials include downloadable guides, podcasts, and videos and webinars; it also has dedicated resources for Black men, veterans, and the LGBTQ+ community to help reduce disparities in prostate cancer and promote health equity.
Zero Prostate Cancer has assembled a robust support network:
Zero360, a helpline that assists with insurance, financial aid, and billing issues
Zero MENtor, a peer-to-peer program that matches people with other members who can offer unique insights
Us Too, in-person and virtual support groups where those impacted by prostate cancer (including caregivers) can connect with others who have had similar experiences
It hosts walking and running events, and accepts donations to support prostate cancer research. Zero Prostate Cancer encourages people to take action and contact the government representatives responsible for policy decisions that may impact the prostate cancer community.
You can subscribe to ZeroHour, the group's monthly newsletter, to have updates sent to your inbox, and keep in touch on social media, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Prostate Cancer Foundation
The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is the world's leading philanthropic organization dedicated to funding prostate cancer research. Since it was founded in 1993, the group has funded advanced treatments and research that have saved the lives of an estimated 1.5 million men.
The PCF also aims to keep people up to date about the latest research findings and offers various educational materials on living with prostate cancer, including informational guides, tips for finding a provider, a treatment center search tool, information about clinical trials, and financial aid resources.
Getting involved in the PCF's fundraising events - including the annual scientific retreat, golf tournaments, and the home run challenge - is one way to connect with others who are living with prostate cancer. The PCF also moderates several private Facebook support groups where you can connect with others who have shared experiences and interests, and it maintains a social media presence on Instagram, X, and YouTube.
Inspire's Prostate Cancer Community Forum

Prostate Conditions Education Council
Found in 1989, the Prostate Conditions Education Council (PCEC) is a non-profit organization that's committed to spreading education and awareness about men's health and prostate health. Its mission is to save lives by promoting early detection and other related issues.
The PCEC offers educational materials about prostate cancer and other prostate health conditions, and it hosts educational programs and events for patients, their loved ones, and the medical community.
The PCEC sponsors a series of Set the Pace events, including runs, walks, motorcycle rides, golf tournaments, galas, beer tastings, and more, to educate men about prostate cancer and encourage them to take action. Funds raised from these events support early detection programs, screening sites, research, and support groups at the local level.
The PCEC also conducts nationwide prostate cancer screenings and provides resources to other organizations to become screening partners. Keep in touch with the PCEC on Facebook and X.
